.: TOURISTIC ITINERARIES
It is not an easy task to recommend a specific
itinerary starting from our home, since both the province
of Pesaro and Urbino and the Marche region in
general can offer a huge variety of events and monuments. Also, the Emilia
Romagna region, which is nearby, can offer plenty of sightseeing and
cultural events as well as nightlife and
fun.
Here are our favourite and nearest visits:
· Monte Giove Hermitage You can reach the Monastery on foot (35/40
minutes) and enjoy the stunning views along the way. Once arrived at
destination, have a look at the wonderful Metauro river valley and at the
Appennines from behind the church, with Mount Catria
just in front of you. From the terrace in the front of the Monastery your eyes will embrace
the whole town of Fano
and the Adriatic coast, with its low and sandy beach.
· Don’t forget, at only 5
km, the
town of Fano, ideal for beach lovers as well as for those who
are fond of historical buildings and landmarks. Fano’s beach is sandy
on the western side (north of the port), and pebbly on the eastern side
(south of the port). There are many remains of the Roman age, from mosaics
to statues and tombs. Fano was an ancient colony called Julia Fanestris where
a temple to the Goddess of Fortune had been built, hence the name of
“Fanum Fortunae” (“The Temple of Fortune”).
Other recommended visits:
· At 40 Km
the famous Renaissance town of Urbino (home of
the famous painter Raphael), perfectly preserved, dense with art and
history.
· At 40 Km
you can find Gradara’s
castle, famous for the love story of Paolo and Francesca, mentioned by
Dante in the Divine Comedy.
· For Nature lovers, the “Gola del Furlo” park, with its steep gorge. This area
features a varied panorama where you can see the typical river environment, as well as forests and
woods, where you might see cormorants and eagles.
· In the San Bartolo
Natural Park you can see predator birds, which stop in the area
during their migrations.
· Don’t miss the spectacular Grotte di Frasassi (Frasassi caves): the biggest cave can contain the Duomo of Milan!
· The small Repubblica di
San Marino (Republic of San Marino) is only 65 Km away.
